Annual Trees of Light and Remembrance
As the holiday season draws near, our community is embraced by traditions that bring us together, offering warmth and connection.
One such cherished tradition is the Annual Trees of Light and Remembrance Ceremony. This meaningful event invites us to gather with friends and neighbors to honor and remember those who have touched our lives in profound ways, whether they passed recently or long ago, and whether they lived locally or afar.
For many years, the Trees of Light and Remembrance Ceremony has provided solace and connection to individuals and families navigating the loss of a loved one. This annual gathering serves as a time to reflect, find comfort, and share in the collective strength of our community during a season that can be both beautiful and challenging.
A Ceremony of Reflection and Hope
During the ceremony, names submitted by community members are inscribed on ornaments and placed on a beautiful tree. The evening includes heartfelt remarks from a guest speaker, music by the Threshold Choir of the Palouse, a recited litany, and the reading of each name as the tree’s lights gradually illuminate, symbolizing hope and remembrance.
We come together to celebrate and honor the lives of those we have lost, whether they were our neighbors, friends, or loved ones who lived far away, reminding us that the bonds of love and memory transcend time and distance.
