Hospice Music Services

Hospice Music Services are dedicated to creating a soothing and peace-filled environment through the gift of music.

We offer comfort and compassion to individuals and families during life’s most profound transitions. With gentle voices and calming melodies, we aim to bring a sense of serenity to those at the thresholds of living and dying.

We consider each melody a gentle blessing, lovingly offered to ease the journey through life’s transitions. By providing this compassionate care, we hope to lighten the emotional and physical weight often carried during these times, allowing individuals to feel supported and held in kindness.

Our services are offered at no cost to residents of the Palouse area through Threshold Choir, ensuring that everyone who needs this gift of music can receive it without financial worry. It is our privilege to serve our community with love and dedication, using music as a tool for healing and peace.

Music has a unique power to reach the heart and soul, providing a source of emotional support and physical ease.

We Regularly Sing At:

Music Players

Upon request, patients and their families can receive a player tailored to their needs.

For those in their final days, we offer music players preloaded with soothing playlists designed to bring peace and comfort, even for those in a comatose state. For patients still enjoying a more active lifestyle, we create custom playlists featuring their favorite musicians and songs—often selections that evoke cherished memories from earlier years.

Research shows that familiar music can stimulate memory, uplift the spirit, and foster a sense of well-being. At Friends of Hospice, we are honored to support patients and their loved ones with this meaningful connection.

How Music Can Help:

Calm feelings of anxiety, creating a sense of emotional peace and reassurance:

Music has a way of soothing frayed emotions, offering a sense of stability in uncertain times. For those facing end-of-life transitions, it can reduce fear, worry, and restlessness, helping both the individual and their loved ones find moments of emotional respite.

Support easier and more relaxed breathing, bringing physical comfort:

The gentle rhythm of music works in harmony with the body’s natural rhythms, promoting a sense of physical calm. This can help regulate breathing, ease tension, and provide a much-needed sense of physical relief.

Foster a sense of connection, offering moments of peace and reflection for both individuals and their loved ones:

Music has the power to transcend words, creating a bridge between individuals and their loved ones. These shared moments of listening can strengthen bonds, provide space for reflection, and create cherished memories, even in challenging circumstances.
